Andrew Symeou update - "You can forget about getting British justice"

[this is good]
Seems like you found it
Yes, thanks Gawain. It staggers me that there is so little interest in this case which has profound implications for all of us. It is cases like this that will eventually wake people up to the horrors of the EU. Sadly that "eventually" seems a long way away as yet. I struggle with the UK Government's idea of "Mutual Respect" for the law of other EU States, when I look at some of the ways that individuals have been treated at the hands of the legislatures of Romania and Greece, discussed further at "In Absentia" .

All the best on 4th June.

It will be telling to disciover if the Law Lords agree to hear Andrew's appeal against the High Court judgement. They should as it is their perogative that is under threat.

We will find out next week. Not holding my breath.

Agreed. I attended the appeal in the High Court in March. It was interesting to listen to the judges wrestle with the various issues such as their independence and their lack of room for manoeuvre. It seemed to me that Andrew Symeou was just collateral damage in all of this. And so it is now for the rest of us. The individual is no longer important to the political Elite of the UK or the EU.

Andrew didn't come to the High Court, poor sould he is having a hellish time. I was outside thje Court in March. I have never set foot in a court of law, I walked in, felt a little odd and decided to stay outside briefing the press.

The BBC covered the judgement appallingly (or at least London BBC did), not even mentioning the European aspect of this - how they did a five minute slot without mentioning the European Arrest Warrant beggars belief, but there is the BBC for you. When we complained they said in an erlection period they couldn't do itr as they had their precious charter balance to worry about!!!.

It was my first time in the High Court - well worth a visit, if you can sum up the courage. A bit Rumpoldian in appearances, but those judges know their stuff. I didn't know that Andrew didn't attend the Court on Friday, but I can understand why. I must now try and find out about the procedure for appeal to the H.O.Lords as Ii don't yet understand this course of action.

On your last point, I thought I had detected a less biased BBC of late, so that is disappointing. How can you possibly cover this without mentioning the EAW? That just isn't possible (Unless you are called the BBC, I suppose)

The EU is a government of bureaucrats, by bureaucrats for bureaucrats. Monnet's dream, stemming from the 1920s, was for a supranational government of the future, run by technocrats without all the constraints of democracy and nationalism. Monnet introduced initiatives little bit by little bit until they became a fait acomplis, so slowly, the supranational EU government has taken almost all power from national governments, but few seem to either notice or care.
